On June 12-14, 2013 Taras Tovstiak, Head of ELEKS Localization Division, will participate as a speaker at the Localization World Conference in London. Taras sheds the light on the pros and cons of the parallel and automated approaches in quality assurance and shares ideas that will be touched upon in his speech.

Are you excited that your speech was selected for Localization World 2013?
Of course I am. We are always excited to share our vast experience with the international audience. Not least important is to discuss the practical aspects of localization issues in the framework of the conference theme: Localization in a Shifting Global Economy.

Why have you chosen such complicated theme?
Since it is a well-known fact that parallel testing is not only new but also quite a challenging topic? First and the foremost, we are not afraid of the challenging projects. Secondly, more and more companies set the priority for the release of localized product versions with the native one (SimShip model). In this case, the automated testing is regarded as the key approach; however it may not be effective with respect to the investment policy. So, parallel testing can be suggested as the reasonable alternative to automated and manual testing.

What are the practical aspects of your speech?
On a daily basis we deal with the vital questions of how to provide our customers with the most beneficial and effective solutions: Which types of testing should be carried out manually and which ones automatically? Are there any solutions to combining manual and automated testing? What are the benefits and drawbacks of parallel testing? My speech will be based on our experience gained as a result of our everyday work regarding these issues.

Who is the target audience of your speech?
I believe it will be interesting for the decision-makers interested in cost-efficiency and high quality of tested products as well as for companies providing localization services. What do you think your audience will learn from the speech? The audience will learn about different approaches to software testing and how to choose the right testing method for each particular project.
