Freewill is a Japanese IT consultancy company that provides managed IT services, one-stop IT solutions and original in-house social responsibility services.
Freewill is a socially responsible IT enterprise with a set of corporate values and goals that go beyond its core line of business. It wanted to leverage modern technologies to strengthen its ability to do social and environmental good, following the Sustainable Development Goals provided by the UN.
As a part of its Sustainable Eco Society vision, Freewill wanted to create a Blockchain-powered crowdfunding charity platform – Spin (Social Parents, Investment & Nurture). To do so, the company was looking for a vendor with solid Blockchain expertise to support development. As the project progressed, Freewill decided to consolidate its charity initiatives into a single platform powered by Blockchain.
The Spin platform enables charity crowdfunding, inviting individuals and businesses to become mentors for talented children and people in need by creating fundraising projects and reporting on project activities. Donators, or “social parents”, can track project progress, check expenses and vote on projects to continue or close.
We used Ethereum Blockchain to secure transactions within Spin. By using this technology, we established full transparency of donations, as well as the ability to track the donated funds all the way to the beneficiary. We also integrated the solution with a Stripe payment gateway, for worldwide online transactions.
We suggested a modernisation of the backend and frontend technology stack of Freewill’s social initiatives, and the creation of a single platform to unify them. So, in addition to Spin, the platform could contain other Freewill projects including:
The Freewill platform provides users with a crypto wallet and tokens that can be used across the Freewill ecosystem, to access services and special features. It also has a platform-wide user rating and review system.
By creating the Spin and Freewill platforms with a clear focus on security and individuality, the company was able to strengthen its reputation as a responsible business.
Freewill consolidated its social responsibility initiatives and attracted its first mentors to Spin. During the project, ELEKS even decided to contribute by becoming a Spin mentor – launching a project to help one of Ukraine’s childcare institutions.
Freewill now implements its Sustainable Eco Society vision by raising awareness, taking actions to preserve the environment and resources, and educating society at large.
