Vsevolod Onyshkevych joined four other industry experts to discuss software development in Ukraine at the "IT Round Table with Executives from Ukraine's IT Software Industry" in NYC
October 13, 2015 – Lviv, Ukraine – ELEKS’ Chief Marketing Officer, Vsevolod (“Sev”) Onyshkevych, a seasoned technology executive and Princeton and Wharton alumnus, took part in a round table discussion about Ukrainian software development on October 8 in NYC. The panel featured executives from ELEKS, SoftServe and DataArt, a professor from Cornell, and was organized by the Ukrainian Institute of America (UIA) and The Federation of Ukrainian Student Organizations of America (SUSTA).
The discussion covered Ukraine’s competitive position in the market, its growing stature in the information technology marketplace, the shift from outstaffing to solution selling, pricing based on value rather than cost, and the pros and cons of growing a "startup ecosystem." The audience was particularly interested in Ukraine’s outsourcing successes and whether or not the country can expand beyond that market segment by developing other IT capabilities.
The event was attended by approximately 180 professionals, including investment bankers, lawyers, reporters and academics from several New York universities. Prof. Charles K. Whitehead from Cornell Law School and the Cornell Technion Innovation Institute was invited as a special guest. The panel was moderated by Adrian J. Slywotzky of Oliver Wyman, a Ukrainian-American and very well-known technology consultant.
“The Ukrainian diaspora is an important part of the ecosystem,” said Vsevolod Onyshkevych. “Exchanges like this are helpful to find customers, partners and other promoters of the Ukrainian IT industry. While this roundtable is a small event, we hope to further expose the Ukrainian IT industry and showcase our capabilities to the global IT community.”
