When launching Apple Vision Pro, the company openly stated this wasn't a mass-market product but rather for early adopters wanting to experience the future today. They initially targeted professionals in development, design, and architecture, where use cases were easily imaginable.

What is the reason Vision Pro is getting attention in the healthcare sector?

Practising physicians showed a massive interest in the headset, backed by actual purchases. Today, you'll find screens in every surgery and procedure room. But these screens can get in the way of medical work. Doctors often have to turn their heads or twist their bodies to see them, which can slow down their reaction. The Apple Vision Pro can replace these screens and mitigate inconveniences. Additionally, the device can be used for learning, experiments, and research.

What factors make Apple Vision Pro more viable for medical use compared to other AR headsets?

Unlike competitors like Magic Leap, there's an established pool of experienced developers skilled with Apple's development tools, capable of creating proper integrations with existing medical software. While the price seems excessive for home use, it doesn't deter hospitals already equipped with expensive medical equipment. Interestingly, Apple's entry into medicine through mass-market wearables proved not to be their only way to collaborate with the industry.

Apple Vision Pro uses high-quality displays to render real and virtual environments. Many users don't even notice that they see through cameras, not glass. That's why the device is ideal for telemedicine: the doctor might see the patient clearly and without colour distortions.
