SmartTrader is a US-based trading platform that provides traders with access to premium trading tools, individual insights, and market analysis, enabling them to advance with skills and trading experience. SmartTrader aimed to substantially expand its trading platform's user base, yet its current capabilities lacked the scalability required to handle increased workloads effectively, such as a higher volume of active users and data processing. To fortify its growth prospects, SmartTrader enlisted the expertise of ELEKS to conduct an audit of its Oracle database. Additionally, ELEKS was tasked with streamlining the development process across geographically dispersed teams and refining the company's adherence to Agile development practices.

Our experts conducted an in-depth 2-month audit of SmartTrader’s Oracle database, the primary source for storing and processing operational and historical data on trading operations, account performance, trading tools, and actual prices with an accuracy of up to one minute. They analyzed resource usage, performance and efficiency issues, and database maintainability. Subsequently, they delivered a comprehensive report outlining actionable items to guide further development efforts.
In addition to database support, ELEKS experts actively engaged in enhancing the existing production and development databases, implementing new optimization features, and resolving performance issues.
Moreover, ELEKS facilitated infrastructure optimisation and cost reduction by providing a DevOps expert to assist in creating an infrastructure optimization plan. Furthermore, a Business Analysis expert was enlisted to organize the backlog and document the project.
ELEKS also contributed to refining SmartTrader's use of industry-standard Agile practices, formalizing development processes, and enhancing efficiency and transparency. Specifically, they assisted SmartTrader in:
