Civex is a group of financial services experts who witnessed first-hand a growing interest in responsible investing. They set out to create a platform for individual investors to become more involved in the corporate governance process. The company’s vision includes the ability to deliver votes to the issuing publicly held companies, thus removing many of the obstacles to retail investor voting.
During the vendor vetting process, Civex was impressed by the professionalism of ELEKS’ technical and business experts and how they dug deep to gain a solid initial understanding of the business’s needs and the idea behind the solution. Our experts also provided Civex with a clear set of expectations regarding delivery volume and schedule.
ELEKS helped Civex create a user-facing mobile platform aimed at boosting solo investor participation in proxy voting. The platform hosts a community of individual investors, shareholder advocates and publicly traded companies who engage with each other and discuss issues, including upcoming proxy votes. Civex users can align with like-minded people, spark conversations and, importantly, see how their network feels about particular proposals or matters, then lean on them if they want to cast their own vote.
Civex also aggregates data from its users and supplies this information to publicly listed companies, as well as institutional money managers, so that they can better connect with their retail audience and understand what it is that retail investors want from their companies.
The ELEKS team brought its innovative expertise to the project, which included project management, product designers, business analysts, developers and architects. The team kicked off the project with a two-week product design phase, where they took a deep dive to understand Civex’s vision, needs and business processes. Our experts then returned to the client with a solid plan to develop the platform and deliver both Android and iOS apps simultaneously.
During development, the team was proactive in offering new functions, designs and ways of thinking about the data. And in many cases, Civex readily adopted these suggestions. The platform was architected and built with scalability in mind to accommodate Civex’s growth plan for the years ahead.
With this robust mobile application, Civex was able to offer individual investors a modern and engaging yet simple way to vote on corporate governance issues.
ELEKS’ partnership has been critical to Civex delivering solid and consistently designed mobile apps rapidly. The app has given Civex credibility. Its partners and potential clients are highly impressed by what they see.
The iterative development and flexibility inherent to ELEKS’ Smart Team approach allowed Civex to fine-tune the platform along the way. So, what it ended up with was a product that was even better than its original vision.

Right from the start, we really liked ELEKS’ commitment and engagement. They came to us with their best people to try to understand our context, our business idea, and developed the first prototype with us. They were very professional and very customer oriented. I think, without ELEKS it probably would not have been possible to have such a successful product in such a short period of time.
ELEKS has been involved in the development of a number of our consumer-facing websites and mobile applications that allow our customers to easily track their shipments, get the information they need as well as stay in touch with us. We’ve appreciated the level of ELEKS’ expertise, responsiveness and attention to details.
