Summary

InSight, a US-based provider of analytical software for pork producers, aimed to enhance data synchronization between central and local servers and provide fast insights to retailers. The solution MVP delivered by ELEKS enabled near real-time data synchronization between a central server and thousands of local nodes in retail stores. InSight needed a solid team with a perspective on the programming changes in order to facilitate new improvements. We onboarded ELEKS to assist us on developments we had been stalled on during 2020. They were very helpful and talented in addressing some key issues as well as re-building and re-modeling our platform. By building the capacity with ELEKS, we have been also preparing for a future with more advanced features and applications that stem from the 2021 workload that they performed.

The situation

InSight needed to breathe new life into its platform with re-modelling and solid support

InSight provided US pork producers and their advisors with an analytical platform that allowed to track swine production statistics, sales records and health information. The platform assisted in year over year performance improvement and maximising the profitability of pork production facilities.

Technically, InSight leap-frogged into a highly designed program by the acquisition of the software package developed and refined over more than 30 years by the original developer. By 2021, lnSight’s platform was falling behind the times. The job which InSight asked of ELEKS was a challenge - to both support the platform and add more functionality to it.

The solution

ELEKS’ solid support team implemented a set of improvements to the analytics platform

The ELEKS helped InSight establish an efficient support team to ensure stable performance of its platform. While providing support services, ELEKS acted as a key decision-maker and took responsibility for product technical shaping. During two years of cooperation with lnSight, ELEKS implemented the following features and solutions:

  • Designed and implemented an advanced report from scratch which encompassed consolidation of numerous tables and incorporation of a complex calculation formula
  • Simplified and automated reporting process, billing procedure, and data visualization
  • Enabled the platform’s expansion into other geographical regions by adding flexibility and scalability to the current solution
  • Introduced changes to the platform’s UI/UX to modernise the look and feel of the software
  • Created and configured staging environment to ensure all the code updates meet the necessary quality requirements, configured a CI/CD tool
  • Increased the quality of the software product by adding testing to our support process
  • Improved the solution’s server function, back up, infrastructure resource allocation, database, and monitoring, optimised page loading, increased stability and security.

The result

Improved performance and increased lifespan of the analytics software

The ELEKS’ L2/L3 support team increased the stability and usability of the swine production analytics platform making it less effort intensive to maintain. Those multiple enhancements that they introduced were able to prolong the technological and economic life of the platform, as well as to scale it to other geographies.
