Medusabusiness contracted ELEKS to revamp its core product, Medusa. This network routing tool creates secure individual networks in multi-occupied public locations and connects users to the Internet, ensuring appropriate traffic management and billing.
ELEKS’ task as an engineering partner was to help our client re-envision the product that was nearing the end of its technological and economic life.
The critical challenge was to bring control of the product to the cloud by creating a hybrid cloud architecture. A complete rework of the architecture with an update of the traffic management aspects was seen as a way to allow the product to move into the future and to provide flexible manipulation of apps.
ELEKS’ role was crucial in capturing our client’s vision of the product and finding high-profile experts with niche knowledge of both network routing and software engineering. Our engineers built the architecture, which became the basis for the MVP and future product enhancements. Next, various product configurations went through ELEKS quality assurance, reducing the repetitive testing efforts by 20% and ensuring that no issues arise during product installation and use.
Running Medusa’s decision/control engine in the cloud allowed our client to move away from costly onsite installations and maintenance of the hardware box. On the user experience side, ELEKS helped Medusabusiness to facilitate end-user administering through the implementation of such self-service functions like the ability to self manage subscriptions and payment plans.
Now, ELEKS continues to support our client in enhancing the product, allowing them to respond to the changing ways of selling the product by integrating it with some significant off-the-shelf office-management solutions.
The product re-engineering allowed our client to scale beyond its traditional market and increase its customer base by 10%. The centralised cloud-based source ensures 90% of customer upgrades happen without any issues. The operational savings on Medusa installations and configuring is estimated to be around 40%. The introduction of self-service functions reduced our client’s support efforts by 20%.
