Aramex follows the ‘asset-light’ business model and is highly committed to innovation in their strategy. They recognise technology and innovation as its key differentiators and growth enablers. Continually investing in bespoke digital solutions, Aramex found it challenging to staff their fast-paced projects locally. Moreover, the innovative and user-centric nature of these projects required vast expertise in data science, UX design, business analysis and R&D.
In late 2015, Aramex decided to look for a technology partner from Eastern Europe to support their entire delivery process. They needed a technology peer who could proactively contribute to design and ideation, rather than just provide development services under close supervision. The client chose ELEKS for our best cost/value balance, extensive expertise in mobile UX, data science and R&D, as well as for our innovation culture.
The range of services provided by ELEKS covers full-cycle product development and includes business analysis, product design, software architecture, data science, software development, quality assurance and implementation. Thanks to our ability to adjust the delivery volume quickly, the Aramex team at ELEKS has grown from 10 to 50 people in just the first three months of our partnership.

In order to get the whole pipeline of projects off the ground and set up the development process, the ELEKS teams conducted several types of research and user interviews during four onsite discoveries at the Aramex office in Amman. Aramex highly appreciated that ELEKS acted as a technology consultant, contributing ideas and challenging requirements, rather than following the regular outsourcing model. This approach perfectly aligns with the innovative and fast-paced way of doing business at Aramex.
ELEKS managed to kick off the backlog of 17 projects in just nine months. We secured quick staffing of IT projects and scalable delivery capacities: the team scaled to 50 experts in just the first three months of working together in early 2016. Aramex achieved a 5x cost cut by using internal apps for warehouse operations, as well as using Android devices instead of expensive scanners. Also, Aramex salespeople now require 100x less time to create a sales quote. The new tools supporting B2B sales operations significantly improved reporting on revenue changes.
Our client enhanced its brand recognition with a fresh and consistent user experience provided for all consumer touchpoints. With the brand new aramex.com, they also noticed a steady increase in mobile traffic to their website. The user retention for the Aramex Mobile app has also increased: the number of monthly active users grew by 100%, while the number of monthly sign-ins for registered users increased by 230%.
The breadth of knowledge and understanding that ELEKS has within its walls allows us to leverage that expertise to make superior deliverables for our customers. When you work with ELEKS, you are working with the top 1% of the aptitude and engineering excellence of the whole country.
Right from the start, we really liked ELEKS’ commitment and engagement. They came to us with their best people to try to understand our context, our business idea, and developed the first prototype with us. They were very professional and very customer oriented. I think, without ELEKS it probably would not have been possible to have such a successful product in such a short period of time.
ELEKS has been involved in the development of a number of our consumer-facing websites and mobile applications that allow our customers to easily track their shipments, get the information they need as well as stay in touch with us. We’ve appreciated the level of ELEKS’ expertise, responsiveness and attention to details.
